Baked Sea Bream with butter and mint

If you’re craving something light but still fancy enough to impress (yourself or guests 😉), this recipe is a winner. The fish is tender and juicy, the butter makes it rich and comforting, and the fresh mint adds a surprising twist that brightens everything up.
It basically tastes like a seaside holiday in every bite – without the plane ticket!

Whether you’re new to cooking fish or already a seafood lover, this dish is as easy as it is delicious. The oven does most of the work; you just sit back and enjoy the amazing smells.

Ingredients: (for 3 servings)

  • 3 medium sea breams
  • 1 large lemon
  • 3 sprigs of fresh oregano
  • a few sprigs of fresh mint
  • 120 grams butter
  • salt + pepper

Preparation:

Wash and clean the fish. Drain it well.

Divide the butter into 6 equal parts and cut it into pieces. Wash and cut the lemon into medium pieces. Wash the mint and remove the leaves from the stem.

Cut the fish 2-3 times on each side so that it will bake evenly. Inside each fish, put a sixth of butter, mint leaves and lemon pieces.

Sprinkle salt and pepper on top.

Turn on the oven to 200 degrees Celsius and let it heat up.

Prepare a tray with baking paper. Add the oregano stems and put a few pieces of lemon on top of them. On top of the oregano and lemons, add the fish and put the rest of the remaining butter on top of the fish.

Place in the preheated oven for ~30 minutes or until the fish is nicely browned. Add extra salt and pepper if necessary and serve with fresh squeezed lemon juice or garlic sauce. You can have it with a salad, some fried potatoes or anything you want.
