Naan bread flavoured with butter, garlic and parsley – Vegetarian

Absolutely delicious and easy to make. This bread is wonderful on its own or used as a base for whatever you want to eat with it.

I recommend you to eat at least one piece, simple and warm. 🙂

Ingredients: (For 8 pieces)

  • 470 g flour
  • 390 g plain yogurt
  • 80 g of butter
  • 15 g of baking powder
  • 3-4 cloves of garlic
  • a few sprigs of fresh parsley or coriander
  • salt + pepper
  • olive oil for baking bread

Preparation:

In a bowl, mix the flour, yogurt, and baking powder. Knead by hand for 3-4 minutes until a compact and elastic dough is obtained. Transfer the dough to a floured surface.

Knead it a little more and then, with the help of a knife, cut the ball of dough into 8 equal pieces (first into 2, then into 4, and so on). Take a piece of dough, make a ball, and stretch it with the help of a rolling pin into an oval shape, a little longer than our palm.

In a non-stick pan, sprinkle a little olive oil (grease the pan as little as for pancakes, for example), and when it has heated up, take one piece of dough, shake it well from the excess flour, and put it in the pan.

Fry it for about a minute and a half to 2 minutes, and sprinkle it with a little oil on the un-baked part and turn it over. Fry it on the other side in the same way.

Proceed in this way until you finish the dough. Do not overdo the oil, and be careful not to burn them.

When you have finished frying the breads, prepare the garlic butter.

Melt the butter in the microwave for 30-40 seconds. Add pepper, salt, finely chopped parsley, and crushed garlic. Mix everything well.

With the help of a pastry brush, grease each loaf separately and transfer them to a plate.

Serve them hot, plain, or with whatever comes to mind.

We had them with what you can see in the photos: some homemade guacamole, green pesto, feta with herbs, gouda cheese, and smoked salmon.

But literally the most delicious- they are simple, just smeared with butter.

Naan breads go wonderfully with salads, curries, stews, or anything else you can think of. 🙂

If you try the recipe, let me know how you liked it! 😊
