The perfect code name for this cake? Definitely “Guilty Pleasure.”
This cake is rich, creamy, and packed with an intense, melt-in-your-mouth chocolate flavor. It’s honestly the most chocolatey cake I’ve ever tasted, but also a serious calorie bomb!
I’m sharing the recipe with you and inviting you to give it a try: just maybe save it for those special occasions. After all, it’s not the food but the excess that spoils the fun!
Ingredients: (for a baking tray approx. 40 x 40 cm)
- 6 eggs
- 400 g butter
- 500 g mascarpone
- 300 g dark chocolate
- 70 g cocoa powder
- 300 g granulated sugar
- 160 g flour
- 3 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon orange/vanilla/rum extract (optional)

Preparation:
In a heavy-bottomed saucepan over low heat, gently melt the butter and 150 g of the chocolate together, whisking constantly until fully combined and smooth. Remove from heat, then stir in the cocoa powder and granulated sugar, mixing until the sugar has completely dissolved. Allow the mixture to cool slightly before proceeding.

Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F). Transfer the mixture to a large bowl. Add the flour, essence (if using), and 250 g of mascarpone, then mix with a hand mixer until everything is well combined. Gradually add the eggs, one at a time, beating continuously after each addition. Line a baking tray (approximately 40 x 40 cm) with parchment paper and pour the batter evenly into the tray.

Place the tray in the preheated oven and bake for about 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
While the cake is baking, prepare the ganache topping. In a heavy-bottomed saucepan over low heat, combine the remaining 150 g of chocolate, 250 g of mascarpone, and the powdered sugar. Stir continuously until the chocolate is fully melted and the mixture is smooth and well blended. Remove from heat and set aside.

Once the cake is done, take it out of the oven and let it cool for about 5 minutes. Then, spread the prepared ganache evenly over the top of the cake.

Chill in the refrigerator for at least 4–5 hours. Afterward, cut into equal portions and arrange on a serving platter.

Words can’t capture how delicious it is. Every calorie is totally worth it!
