Who knew beer could take baked pike to the next level? This recipe combines the rich, malty flavor of beer with tender, flaky pike for a dish that’s both simple and delicious. Just marinate the fish in beer, bake it, and let the magic happen. It’s perfect for a weeknight dinner or a casual get-together. Pair it with veggies or a fresh salad, and you’ve got a meal that’ll have everyone asking for more. Enjoy the beer-infused goodness!
Ingredients:
- One large pike or pike fillets if available (I had a whole one, which I portioned and cleaned myself – I got about 10 fillets)
- Half a bottle of beer (~250-300 ml)
- Sprigs of fresh rosemary and thyme
- 3 medium onions
- 1 head of garlic
- Olive oil
- Salt and pepper

Clean and cut the pike into portions. Place them in a bowl, drizzle with olive oil, season with salt and pepper, then set aside.

Peel the onion, cut it in half, and slice it. Peel the garlic and chop it into thick slices.

Prepare some oven-safe dishes. Start by placing the onion at the bottom, then layer the fish on top. Between the fish pieces, add the garlic and herbs. Pour the beer over, ensuring it reaches just below the top of the fish without covering it completely. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper.

Preheat the oven to 200°C and place the dishes inside for about 40 minutes, or until the fish is golden and cooked through.
We served it with steamed carrots and sauce on the side. You can pair it with any side dish you like, but make sure the garlic sauce is included! If you prefer, you can also squeeze a little lemon juice over the fish for added freshness.
