Mushrooms with butter and garlic – Vegetarian

Whether served as a flavorful side or enjoyed on their own, these buttery garlic mushrooms are a simple yet delicious vegetarian dish.

Sautéed to golden perfection, they’re rich, aromatic, and incredibly easy to make, perfect for any meal that needs a comforting, savory touch.

Ingredients: (for 2 servings)

  • 500 g brown or white champignon mushrooms
  • 100 g butter
  • 2 medium onions
  • 5–6 garlic cloves
  • 1 small coffee cup of white or rosé wine
  • Salt + pepper
  • Fresh basil, rosemary, and oregano leaves (or dried, if fresh is not available)

Preparation:

Wash, clean, and slice the mushrooms in half. Peel and crush the garlic, then set it aside on a small plate. Slice the onion into thin strips.

In a large wok or frying pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the onion and sauté briefly. Then add the mushrooms and cook for a few minutes, stirring occasionally, until they begin to brown.

Next, pour in the wine and let it simmer for a minute or two, stirring continuously, until the alcohol has evaporated. Add the washed and finely chopped herbs, stir again, and allow the mixture to reduce slightly. Then add the garlic, cook for another moment, season with salt and pepper to taste, and remove from the heat.

These mushrooms make a perfect side dish alongside a steak or can be enjoyed on their own as a simple, flavorful main. They’re incredibly tasty and surprisingly easy to prepare.
