This flavorful and easy-to-make curry masala rice is a versatile dish perfect for any meal. Whether enjoyed on its own as a satisfying vegetarian option or served alongside steak or fish, it brings a fragrant, spiced touch to your plate every time.
Ingredients:
- 200 g long-grain rice
- 50 g butter (for a vegan option, use olive oil or sunflower oil)
- 3-4 bell peppers
- Salt and pepper
- 1 heaping teaspoon curry masala (or regular curry, whichever you have on hand)
- 1 onion

Preparation:
Wash the bell peppers and cut them into strips. Peel the onion and slice it.

In a large wok, melt the butter and sauté the onion for about a minute. Add the bell peppers and continue cooking for another two minutes. Stir in the curry masala and mix well to combine.

Add the rice and sauté for about a minute. Pour in 2 cups of water—or enough to just cover the ingredients—then cover and let it simmer for approximately 5 minutes.

After 5 minutes, uncover the pot and continue simmering, stirring occasionally, until the rice is al dente. If needed, add a little more water. Once done, turn off the heat and season with salt and pepper to taste.
Serve it on its own or alongside steak or fish. We enjoyed it with slow-cooked chicken, and the flavors paired beautifully.
